    I've heard people who know about these things say "The only thing stupider than the Davy Crockett would be an atomic hand grenade".
    IIRC, the TM for that thing started with "First, dig a trench".
    You needed the trench to dive into after you fired it, because it was going to go off so close to you, that you'd better be (somewhat) protected!
